The all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 includes a single motor and 82-kWh battery that produces 201 horsepower. With 2021 Volkswagen Atlas models, you have the choice between two powertrains, the 235-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-four and a 276-horsepower 3.6-liter V6. These engines pair to an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel-drive or optional all-wheel-drive.
The 2021 ID.4 provides an estimated 104/89 MPGe and offers a 250-mile driving range on a single charge. The base Atlas with FWD is rated at 21/24 mpg, while AWD offers 20/24 mpg instead. The V6 engine produces numbers of 17/23 mpg with front-wheel-drive and 16/22 mpg with all-wheel drive.

The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 provides space to hold five comfortably, compared to the six or seven you can fit in an Atlas across the three rows. The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 dimensions measure 181″ L x 73″ W x 64″ H with either 19- or 20-inch wheels and four exterior color options. In comparison, the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas measures 198″ L x 78″ W x 70″ H with 18-, 19- and 21-inch wheels, plus seven paint colors.
The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 hasn’t been evaluated yet by the NHTSA or IIHS.
