The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 starts at $39,995, while the new 2021 Volkswagen Atlas MSRP is $30,545. Both models are available in a variety of trim levels at varying price points.
The all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 includes a single motor and 82-kWh battery that produces 201 horsepower. With 2021 Volkswagen Atlas models, you have the choice between two powertrains, the 235-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-four and a 276-horsepower 3.6-liter V6. These engines pair to an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel-drive or optional all-wheel-drive.
The 2021 ID.4 provides an estimated 104/89 MPGe and offers a 250-mile driving range on a single charge. The base Atlas with FWD is rated at 21/24 mpg, while AWD offers 20/24 mpg instead. The V6 engine produces numbers of 17/23 mpg with front-wheel-drive and 16/22 mpg with all-wheel drive.
You can expect to tow up to 2,200 pounds with the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4, while the Atlas is rated for up to 5,000 pounds.
The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 provides space to hold five comfortably, compared to the six or seven you can fit in an Atlas across the three rows. ID.4 models also have 30.3 cubic feet of room behind the back seats and 64.2 cubic feet when the second row is folded down. Atlas models come with 20.6 cubic feet behind the third row, 55.5 cubic feet when that row is folded, plus 96.8 total cubic feet when all of the back seats are down.
Both models come complete with many standard features, with the ID.4 including a Wi-Fi hot spot, a ten-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, a seven-speaker sound system, four USB ports, voice recognition, HD Radio and a navigation system. It also includes ten-color ambient interior lighting, a digital instrument cluster and dual-zone automatic climate control. 2021 Volkswagen Atlas models come with Bluetooth, a six-speaker sound system, a USB port, a 6.5-inch touch screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 dimensions measure 181″ L x 73″ W x 64″ H with either 19- or 20-inch wheels and four exterior color options. In comparison, the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas measures 198″ L x 78″ W x 70″ H with 18-, 19- and 21-inch wheels, plus seven paint colors.
The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 hasn’t been evaluated yet by the NHTSA or IIHS. However, the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas earned a perfect five-star safety rating from the NHTSA and received “Good” ratings in all of the IIHS crashworthiness tests. ID.4 models come equipped with automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, pedestrian detection, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, lane departure warning, parking sensors, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, rain-sensing headlights and automatic highway driving assist. Additionally, the new Atlas models include rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking and a rearview camera.
