The 2021 VW Jetta is equipped with a 147-horsepower turbocharged engine that produces 184 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, you have the choice between a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. It's only available with front-wheel-drive. The 2021 VW Jetta GLI includes a more powerful 228-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 258 lb-ft of torque. All GLI models include a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission or the manual from the standard Jetta.
The new Volkswagen Jetta is rated at 30/40 mpg. However, the GLI isn't rated as high because of the more powerful engine. With a GTI and manual transmission, you can expect 25/33 mpg or 25/32 with the automatic.
